Annoyance on aisle 7

Am I the only one annoyed at the latest trend in grocery store advertisements?
The prices alone are enough to make you wince, but are any of you sick of the current presentation of grocery ads?

In the past, a person could go through the various advertisements and pick and choose where to shop, usually according to price. However, today with the creative advertisement it is not so easy. For instance, I’m looking at a local store’s weekend ad: 20 percent off regular price — doesn’t say what the regular price is, or BUY ONE/GET ONE FREE (no price on the first one) and it occurs to me that perhaps the price on the first one has been jacked up a bit? Or 10 for/$5.50, 3/$10.00 or 10/$10.00. Would I be required to buy all 10 to get them for $1.00 each? What would be wrong with just pricing them at $1.00, period?

I suppose in the grand scheme of things this is a very minor annoyance but added to the steady increase in the cost of fuel, food prices, health care, taxes and the almost daily news that more people (ours & theirs) have been killed in Iraq, well, it makes one wonder when that proverbial straw will be placed on our back.
