Latin style
Juan Carlos Arcila-Duque chokes up slightly when he recalls "The Sanctuary House" featured in his new book. Although the Miami Beach, Fla.-based decorator visited a home a day for 34 days in his styling and photo trip throughout Latin America, it was this finca or farm-style Pueblo house in Pereira, Colombia, that touched his heart.

Joseph Earhart, 7, of East Wenatchee, discovered last summer that toads sometimes fall into the window wells in his backyard. "Every day when he comes home from school, he checks to see if there are any new critters in the wells," says his mother Lane'e Earhart. On March 10, Joseph was pleased to find an abnormally large toad and showed it off for the camera. Joseph's father is Brennan Earhart.

Bundt is back
Cable television serendipity struck again a few weeks ago when I picked up the remote control and, shazam!: One of my favorite scenes from "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" popped up.
Nosh on
The first time I went on a big vacation outside of the U.S. was a trip to Mérida, Mexico, on the Yucatán Peninsula in the southeastern corner of Mexico. I was 8 years old, and I'm sure I didn't appreciate it enough. Since then, I've been back several times, each time enjoying it more. I love the city and the region. It's so inviting and comforting there. The city is beautiful, the food is fantastic and the whole place reminds me of a Gabriel García Márquez novel.
