WENATCHEE — State Department of Transportation engineers will be on hand from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Wenatchee Community Center to talk to the public about upcoming work aimed at easing congestion on and around the Sen. George Sellar Bridge. The Community Center is at 504 S. Chelan St.
The projects are:
Addition of an eastbound lane and a new pedestrian path on the south side of the bridge; starts in 2009.
Construction of a bypass road between the Columbia River and Fred Meyer and Top Foods. The bypass will get cars around the intersections of Grant Road and Highway 28 and 3rd Street and Highway 28; starts in 2010.
Widening of the roads approaching the bridge on the west side. The left turns toward Malaga from the bridge eliminated; starts in 2012.
Spanish interpreters will be present.

From the looks of it, that "bypass" is for southbound traffic only, northbound traffic will still take the same route it currently does. Kevin L | May 27, 2008 2:10 pm | Request Removal |

The bypass road between the Columbia and Fred Myer is a good idea. How will it tie in to Sunset highway north of the bridge? Martin Reginald | May 27, 2008 1:52 pm | Request Removal |
